Connie Day (1942-2002)

Connie Day of Cleveland won four TGA State Women’s Amateur Championships. Only five women, all Hall of Fame members, won more times. She also was a runner-up in the tournament five times. A graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Connie won the TGA State Women’s Senior Amateur in 1993 and the TGA State Women’s Four-Ball in 1997. She played in her first of many U.S. Women’s Amateur Championships in 1967.
Ann Furrow (1945 - )

Ann Baker Furrow of Maryville won the TGA State Women’s Amateur Championship five times, beginning in 1961. That same year she won the Women’s Western Junior Amateur. The biggest victory of her career was the 1978 Women’s Southern Amateur. Ann Baker was given a golf scholarship by the University of Tennessee. She did not compete on the men’s team, but did play each year in the Women’s National Intercollegiate, the forerunner to the present NCAA Championships. Many years after graduation, Ann Furrow was instrumental in establishing one of college golf’s best women’s programs at Tennessee.
Bobby Greenwood (1938- )

Bobby Greenwood has been involved in every aspect of golf—nationally-ranked amateur player, PGA Tour player, club professional, course designer, and editor-writer. The Cookeville native was one of the first to win both the TGA State Open and TGA State Amateur. An All-America at the University of North Texas, he won the Missouri Valley Conference twice and the Southern Intercollegiate. He was ranked among the nation’s Top 10 amateurs twice and one of the few multiple winners of the Sunnehanna Amateur. He played on the PGA Tour for seven years. The popular Tennessee Challenge Cup grew from a seed planted by Greenwood.
Danny Green (1957 - )

Never having read an instructional book or taken a golf lesson, Danny Green of Jackson has amassed a record 10 TGA Amateur Player of the Year awards, beginning in 1989. His credits include wins in the U.S. Mid-Amateur (1999), Western Amateur (1997), Pacific Northwest Amateur (2006), three State Amateurs (1993, 2000, 2003), and four State Mid-Amateurs (1994, 2000, 2003, 2004). He played on one Walker Cup team and is the only player in history to have played in the finals of the U.S. Amateur, U.S. Amateur Public Links, and U.S. Mid-Amateur.
Tim Jackson (1959 - )

The golf career of Tim Jackson of Germantown is highlighted by his winning the U.S. Mid-Amateur in 1994 and 2001 and playing on two Walker Cup teams. In addition to winning the 1998 North and South Amateur, he has won four State Amateurs (1994, 1998, 2001, 2005), five State Mid-Amateurs (1990, 1997, 2001, 2002, 2005) and the 2002 State Open and 2005 State Amateur Match Play. The nine-time TGA Amateur Player of the Year was inducted into the Southern Golf Association Hall of Fame in 1999.
